Eric Church Addresses His "Monsters" in New Song

As the release date of Eric Church's sixth studio album, Desperate Man, creeps closer, the country star is sharing another new song to give his Church Choir another taste of what to expect from the upcoming record.

"Monsters" is an emotional, slow-burning tune that plays on the theme of childhood fears and the demons we face as adults. The song begins with simple acoustic guitar and Church singing about killing monsters by turning on the light when he was a kid. When he gets to the chorus, the 41-year-old addresses his new methods for clearing out the scary things in his mind.

"Anymore when a restless feeling keeps me up at night / Falling on my knees is my new turnin' on the light / I keep my faith intact, make sure my prayers are said / 'Cause I've learned that the monsters ain't the ones beneath the bed," he croons during the chorus.

As the song progresses, so does the musical arrangement. Bass and percussion thump as the verses begin to tell Church's story as an adult, with a son of his own.
