Josh Turner has officially issued a statement since a tour bus carrying his road crew was involved in a tragic crash last week that left one dead and seven other passengers injured.

The 41-year-old country-gospel musician took to Facebook on Tuesday (September 24) with a message of condolences to the families affected due to the fatal accident. “As I try to write this I don’t know what to say. It’s a struggle to put into words the devastation and grief that our road family is trying to process," Turner started his post.

He continued: “We lost a beloved member of our team, David Turner. He was like a brother to so many in this industry and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Please continue to keep David’s family in your prayers.”

“All of our crew suffered significant injuries and many have long roads to recovery. I would ask that you give them privacy during this time," Josh wrote, before closing his message with a link to a GoFundMe page created to help raise funds for the recovering survivors and to assist in covering funeral expenses for the 64-year-old sound engineer.

As previously reported, the crash occurred in Shandon, California, while the bus was en route eastbound on Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County. Josh, who was not on the bus that crashed, had just played at the Vina Robles Amphitheater in Paso Robles before the accident transpired.

California Highway Patrol told KSBY News that, for reasons unknown, the bus driver left the roadway and drove through the dirt shoulder before the bus plunged from a 50-foot cliff. Two passengers were ejected from the vehicle, one of whom was David. The outlet also indicates several other passengers had sustained significant to major injuries, some of which required an airlift to transport the wounded to a hospital.
