While Lil Nas X's debut full-length album, Montero, featured collaborations with a slew of icons, including Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, and Jack Harlow, the "Industry Baby" artist has revealed that he tried to get two more big names on the record: Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj.

Taking to Twitter to answer fan questions about his recent release, Lil Nas X responded to one fan who asked "Would you ever do a song with Lady Gaga," by replying, "yes I actually wanted a song with her on the album but I never finished writing to it and sending it to her." Fans then took to the comments to beg if Lil Nas X would be able to finish the track by the time a deluxe version of Montero came out, but the rapper has not yet responded.

Lil Nas X also revealed that he sent his single "Industry Baby" to Nicki Minaj, but the "Starships" singer never responded. The track wound up featuring Jack Harlow and became the second single from Montero.

While the two potential collaborations for Montero would have been exciting, it is undeniable that the array of talent Lil Nas X recruited for the record created stunning features. The music video for his third single, That's What I Want," even included a cameo from none other than Billy Porter. The 22-year-old rapper also revealed that physical copies of the album will be made available soon, but that he was unable to get them out in time due to turning in the record only a few days before the release date.

Ahead of his record's release, Lil Nas X was named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. Kid Cudi wrote a tribute to the rapper, saying, "To have a gay man in hip-hop doing his thing, crushing records – that is huge for us and for Black excellence. The way he's unafraid to make people uncomfortable is so rocked 'n' roll."

Lil Nas X will also be making a guest appearance on the upcoming Disney + revival of The Proud Family, Louder and Prouder. As his stardom continues to rise, hopefully a song with Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj will arrive soon.
