Reba McEntire shared a heartfelt post as she turns “70 years young” on Friday (March 28).
The legendary country star posted a baby photo on Instagram with a reflection of the day she was born in McAlester, Oklahoma. McEntire said “the first thing I thought of this morning was I’m so glad Mama feels better today than she did 70 years ago. I’m also glad she kept me. I’m the third of four kids. In March of 1955, Alice was 3 and Pake was almost 2 years old,” McEntire shared of her older siblings. Two and a half years after her arrival, the kids of the family became “the Fearsome Foursome” with McEntire’s little sister, Susie.
“God blessed me with the best family and the best aunts, uncles, and cousins a kid could ever wish for! And what a life He’s given me,” McEntire wrote. “Thank you to everyone who has wished and sang Happy Birthday to me last night and today. I love you with all my heart! You have made my life better, more fun and have enriched my life beyond my wildest imagination. I’m so grateful and thankful to God and my Angels for continuing to guide, direct, protect, and give me my marching orders :) And for putting each of you in my life. 70 years young :) Thank you all for the birthday wishes.”
McEntire signed the post, “Love you always, Reba.”
McEntire received birthday wishes from fellow artists and co-stars. Melissa Peterman, who worked with the iconic country artist on the beloved Reba sitcom (and reunited with her on the pair’s current comedy, Happy’s Place), shared a throwback photo on Instagram on Thursday (March 27). Peterman, McEntire and Reba co-star JoAnna Garcia Swisher are each holding a cake in the snapshot. Peterman said she was “throwing it back to that time on set we all got a Birthday cake. I don't remember why but if I've learned anything in my 30 years, don't ask questions when someone gives you a cake.”
Trisha Yearwood also posted throwback photos with McEntire in honor of the “Fancy” artist’s 70th birthday. The birthday tribute arrives shortly after McEntire shared a sweet speech at Yearwood’s star unveiling on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Yearwood wrote: “Happy birthday to my trailblazing friend [Reba McEntire]! Can’t wait to celebrate with you! xoxo Trisha 💋 🎂”
Happy birthday, Reba!
